Normandy Post #1 -- Beyeux

We spent the next several days exploring Normandy. We have done below Normandy, we have done above Normandy. We have done East and West of Normandy...but we have never done Normandy.

This last year both Muggles were learning about World War II and other histories so they were interested in going to Normandy. We decided that it was time to go! We stayed in a small village just outside the town of Beyeux. We had a few things on our list that we wanted to see and this was kind of a central location. We lucked out, Beyeux became one of our favorite cities we have enjoyed in Europe. Several cities are lovely...but places like Beyeux and Bruges in Belgium are special.

We had gone into Beyeux for breakfast on our way to another stop. But we ended up staying for several hours exploring the place. Then we went back for dinner...and breakfast again...we loved it each time!

Down every winding cobblestone street and following the small canals brought new things to see and more places to take photos!

As always, we stopped at all the bakeries we passed (there were a lot of them) and go into all the churches. It was cool to see that even when we were there in the middle of the week, there were several people in the Mass that was happening.

We found so many hidden gardens that you could sit and relax.

Lady Hiva loved all of the apple trees around Normandy as we drove. She was mortified that so many apple trees were sitting full of apples and nobody had harvested them! Gasp!! She even stopped and picked a few. It bothered her so much that we were treated with her historical research of the history of apples in Normandy from the Medieval ages.

Across the field from our hotel was a small chapel. I walked over to explore while the Muggles were playing at the play ground. It was open for people to worship...just small and quaint. I think that I was the only one in there except spiders. (and maybe some spirits)
