Unexpected Fun At Disney Hollywood Studios

Our second day was Disney's Hollywood Studios. It was a great experience! We had so much we did not expect and really enjoyed it. We were worried with small children would there be enough that they are interested in, but we were proved that there was plenty that the whole family enjoyed.

We started made it to the park early again and were in line for both the Tower of Terror and Rockin' Rollercoaster before the park 'opened.' Lady Hiva's goal for the trip was to do Tower of Terror, so that is where we went first. Koala Bear was not sure about going on Tower of Terror, but we went anyway. The theming for the queue was not fully functioning because of COVID physical distancing. But that worked in our favor so the kids did not have to be "scared." The ride was fun, they both just closed their eyes for the first part of the ride but liked the tower part.

Lucky Dragon and I went on Rockin' Rollercoaster...Koala Bear was too short to ride it. He asked me going in if it went upside down and I told him I could not remember...it does go upside down...a few times. LOL. After we were done he said, "That was awesome! I am so ready for Cannibal now!" (Cannibal is the largest rollercoaster at Lagoon in Utah and he has gone on it one time, but has not wanted to go again. But he liked Rockin' Rollercoaster enough to take Lady Hiva later in the day.

We then went to the Lightning McQueen show and again Disney impressed with their use of technology. We ended up in front row seats for the event.

The longest ride that we waited for was the Runaway Railway. They have taken the old studios ride and redone it. It was a fun ride. The first time we rode I was just interested in all the new technology. The second time I was able to enjoy it.

We were so lucky to have cousins with us at the parks! It made rides and lines so much better.

The Star Wars rides are good. We have never seen Star Wars so we do not understand all of the details, but they are still fun. Koala Bear again did not want to ride Galaxy's Edge. But when we got in, she again enjoyed the ride and even pushed all the buttons she was assigned. The rest of the week we all teased, including Koala Bear, Lucky Dragon that he was a 'bad driver.' He was assigned the pilot seat. They also like that the elevators in our hotel were made to look like the ride and every time we went in we had a re-hash of all the places we sat and what we did.

Speaking of Star Wars rides, one of our all-time favorite rides for the trip was Rise of the Resistance. It is an EXPERIENCE. Note that you have to have a reservation for this ride. You go on to the Disney App at 0700h and reserve a "boarding time." They go fast. REALLY fast. Meaning when I waited for 5 minutes watching the clock. As soon as it hit 0700h I tried to reserve and it was still too late. Before 0701h they were full! But they open another round of spots at 1300h. It was funny to watch everyone in the park at 1245h start to watch their phones. We were able to get a boarding time. When I say that it was an experience, I mean it was an experience. It was so well done when we came out of the one part after being "caught" by the police, and we walked out into a huge room with Storm Troopers waiting. Koala Bear yelled in a terrified voice, "Are they going to shoot us?!!' Everyone in the room started to laugh! Do whatever you can to ride this ride.

We had lunch at a Character lunch in Hollywood and Vine. We were able to interact with Minnie, Mickey, Pluto and Goofy. It was so much fun. We were worried because both Muggles fell asleep in stroller on our way there so the first 20 minutes they were just crying. It is always a test of patience to spend a lot on an experience for your kids and have them not even want to participate. But luckily we held it together and by the time the food time for the second course, they were excited to participate.

We rode all the rides in Toy Story land several times. It was fun to do.
