Return to Heidelberg

We had a free weekend so we went down to Heidelberg. It was beautiful. I have loved Heidelberg since I was a teenager on my first trip to Europe. The last time we were here as a family was winter so while still beautiful, it was not as green. We loved it.
We spent a few hours walking around the parks, trees and walkways up by the Schloss. It was crazy to think that there were kings and emperors lived here hundreds of years before the USA was even a country. The Schloss was abandoned the year before the US was founded after it was struck twice by lightning.
These two were mesmerized by the thousands of tiny salamanders swimming around the algae ponds. They stood there and then sat there for a LONG time while we went around exploring.

We were excited to see that the Heart of Te Fiti in the wall...So glad that 1500 and 1600 monarchs loved Polynesians too!
