We booked a small apartment just outside Colmar in a small village. It was the perfect place to stay. We were close enough that we could get to the markets downtown, but out in a village that was quiet and iconically dreamy. Then we went exploring the city!
Colmar was full of Christmas--my kind of town! Stores, trees, riverbanks, sidewalks...they were all decked out for the holiday. It was beautiful. I guess as a town they must have leaned into the idea that Christmas brings people and people bring money. haha (It brought us for sure)
Lady Hiva and I woke up early in the morning and we went to stand in line with all the locals for the bakery....make that bakeries. We stopped at both bakeries in the small village. It was so much fun to see all of their baked goods. They tasted as good as they looked.
We were driving to our hotel and in the middle of the round-about was Lady Liberty. We were so surprised. As we walked through Colmar there were stones throughout the city that pointed to her where ever they were placed--making her a bit of a homage landmark. We did some reading and found out that the artist who created the Lady Liberty was from Colmar.
