A Trip to the Twilight Zone!

Disney's Hollywood Studios was amazing as always!~ Some of our favorite rides in all of WDW resort are at Disney's Hollywood Studios (DHS)! The key for having a successful day is to go early, wear good shoes, and have an umbrella. The first day went went on this trip it was SO hot. Unlike all the other parks, there is not much shade in DHS. Lines that are longer, the Star Wars rides, Mickey's Runaway Railroad, Slinky Dog Dash, Rockin' Rollercoaster, and Tower of Terror, they have tried to supplement with umbrellas along the queue, but it really is only good in spots. Therefore, having your own umbrella makes the experience MUCH better.

Speaking of great rides...again, going to the park early is best. You can get into some of the best rides before the other guests are in the park. We were able to do Tower of Terror and Runaway Railroad a few times both days were were in DHS all because we were there earlier. As the day goes on, lines get longer--and hotter.

If you really want to be ready for the trip, watch the two Disney+ documentary series: Imagineering and Behind The Attraction. This really helped us get excited for the trip and when we were on the rides we knew what went into it and could appreciate them more!

The Star Wars rides are always popular. That means lines are a bit long. Rise of the Resistance is amazing. And that is coming from someone that has never seen a Star Wards movie. It is a true experience. You have to get a spot in the virtual queue. That opens at 0700h the day that you have a reservation at the DSH park. You need to be on your phone with the reservation app pulled up 5 minutes before and watch the clock. We do that and just continue to refresh until the appointed time. You have to be FAST because they fill up in the first 2 minutes of the queue opening. If you do not get it at 0700h, you can always try again at 1300h. Set an alarm and be ready at that point too. You will see people pulling out their phones etc. The afternoon times seem to be a bit better, but you still have to be on your phone right away.

Lady Hiva, the foodie that she is, wanted to try the "milk." She opted to try the blue milk, not the green. It was OK...I did not like it at all. But she said it was not too bad.

The Tower of Terror is a FAMILY favorite! We all love this attraction so much and we all look forward to it when we get to go. The anticipation is so much fun. As always, Disney did so well with the theming.

Because it was so hot in the queue for the big rides, we tried to have a show or something to do in between to cool of and rejuvenate. One of those was the historical museum right behind Mickey's Runaway Railway on your way to Toysland. It was so cool to see Walt's history and see all of the prototype models of some of the rides we have grown to love.

Lady Hiva also had to get her "Wookie Cookie." It is really big and REALLY sweet.

The Carrot Cake Cookie was AMAZING--we found it in Trolley Car Cafe as you walk into the park.

Mickey's Runaway Railroad is a whole experience too! I love the way Disney uses technology to completely blow you away!

We ate at Prime Time Café. It was so much fun. We have done Hollywood and Vine, just next door, in the past. You can see our thoughts on food in this post. Prime Time Café is set so you are in "mom's" kitchen in the 50s. The servers have fun with you as you eat vegetables or place your elbows on the table. Our kids thought it was funny to see me get "in trouble" for looking at my phone! The food was really great too!

Hollywood and Vine is a character dining and when we went to the bathroom--that both restaurants share--we were lucky enough to see Mickey and Friends.

We stood in line for Rockin' Roller coaster. Made it all the way up to be strapped in and then the ride broke down! They had to evacuate us out the back area! HAHA

Toy Story Land is fun for the kids. We love to compete in the cannon ride. And Slinky Dog Dash is a fun roller coaster. But for some reason the line is REALLY long! If you can catch it in the morning or late in the evening it is worth the wait.

One of the shows we saw for the first time was the Frozen Sing-a-long. Again it was meant to be a break from the heat and it was so much fun! The narrators are funny and work well to entertain both kids and adults alike. It is well worth your time to see!
