Zaanse Schans

One of our days in the Netherlands we decided that we were going to go full on tourist and visit Zaanse Schans. Because of the HUGE snow storms in the area, much of the life was shutdown. But that meant we could enjoy the tourist destination without many others. Only those willing to brave the cold!

Zaanse Schans has all the best that The Netherlands has to offer. Again a tourist version of it. But if you are pressed on time and want to maximize your exposure to Dutch culture and history it is a good stop. There is a museum, windmills, clog shops, chocolate, cheese, and baked goods.
We could sample all the cheese offerings. They were SO good.

They had a replica clog shop set up. But for us, we realized we had a better experience watching the guy make them personally.

We ate some fresh Stroopwaffles.

Lady Hiva broke out the 'dad jokes' and said "look, there is a clogged heart! " hahaha

A small museum of clogs from around the Netherlands. It was cool to see how each place changed the way they looked based on the use.

The Muggles made their own hot chocolate with Dutch Cocoa.
