Paris For the Win! (Again) - Part 3--The Louvre

Koala Bear really wanted to go to the Louvre. That is not surprising with he apparent love for art history. She has had some amazing teachers in the past that make history and art come to life. Over the years Koala Bear will share those details with us in random times.

I love the Louvre, so going was a good idea. AND especially when your children are asking to go! Let's do it! The last time we were here with the Muggles Koala Bear was about 3 and she melted down about half the way through. We had a good laugh as we walked through the hallway where she had laid down and screamed...haha.
The Louvre deserved its own post. There was SO much to see. You could go to the Louvre everyday for years and not absorb all that it has inside. There are rooms after rooms. Corridors after corridors. We were only there for about 2 hours and I feel like we had only seen a fraction of the museum.

Because there is so much to see we made our plan of things we wanted to see prior to going in. Koala Bear wanted to see Mona Lisa. Lucky Dragon wanted to see Venus de Milo. I wanted to see Winged Victory. Lady Hiva wanted to take the Muggles to Napoleon's Apartments. Lucky Dragon took the map at the entrance and he led the way through the many corridors to each of these items.

Along the way we saw so many other art pieces that we loved and had not expected.

Again, I was surprised by all of the textures that we could see throughout the museum. This was especially evident in the restored rooms that Napoleon had lived in.

We made it to see Venus de Milo. We were all so amazed to learn that she was created between 160 and 110 BC!!!

Athena--another favorite of mine!

Koala Bear liked explaining to us which Greek Gods we were passing. She really enjoyed her Mythology classes at her last school.

There was a section for mechanical art. The artists infused technology and art. I told both Muggles that they way they both love to build and make AND art, they could make things like this.

We made it to Mona Lisa. As always there are HUNDREDS of people pushing to get closer to her. SIGH. Not really something any of us wanted to do. We stood at the back of the crowd and took photos. As always, I am so interested to see the way people stand there and jockey for a photo of the Mona Lisa but right behind you is a painting so huge it spans the entire room and is 30 feet tall! The people in the painting are life size!

I wish I had this guy's hair! Those luscious curls! But seriously, to see that it is stone, it must have taken forever to carve each of those locks.

And this material that was carved out of stone. If you look at it quickly, you forget it is stone because it looks so much like material.

My favorite people with my favorite piece of art. There is one painting from a painter in Hawaii that would rival it, but Winged Victory, for whatever reason, is may favorite.
