Olympics 2026: Livingo, Predazzo, and Val di Fiemme

We had a day between events so we made our way through the Dolomites towards Livigno where our next Olympics events would be. We went through tunnels and up steep winding narrow mountain passes and then back down steep winding narrow passes. At least it was not snowing for this portion of the trip. It was bad enough without the snow. Add crazy Italian drivers who whip around these hairpin bends and ride up behind if they think we are going too slow. It was stressful driving for sure.

We passed through wine country--it is winter, but still beautiful to see.

Our Airbnb was perched up on a steep cliff overlooking the valley far , far below!

These two wanted to wear their U of U gear again because the whole arial ski team are UofU athletes! Go Utes!

We woke up every morning to this view of an old village church.

More steep tunnels and small narrow passes.

The drive took us passed several ski resorts. It was so fun to see families out skiing in the sunshine. We would stop to get food and--of course--walk through the grocery stores.

We had to buy Lady Hiva a ski jacket because she accidentally left hers at the last Airbnb. But it was too far to make it back.

We accidentally made it to all of the other Olympic venues. We had not planned to, but they happened to be along our drive towards Livigno. So we stopped and took photos of all of them as we went.

These jumps at Predazzo were intense!

From the photos you cannot really tell how steep it is...but it is a cliff that is straight down, several thousand feet.

We ate late at night at a small restaurant owned by a family. They made the noodles homemade and the pizzas from scratch. It was delicious!
And of course, nobody says no to late night gelato!

We made a late night stroll through Tirano before heading back up the mountain to our Airbnb.

We ate so many strawberries on this trip. The were grown in Southern Italy and there were so GOOD. We would by a kilo of them and just eat as we walked.
The lanscape was dotted with old castles and churches. It was hard to get a good photo, but they all looked so pretty up above the villages.

When it was time to go to Livigno it started to snow again. They stopped us about half way up to make us get on a bus with chains. By the time we arrived the snow had dumped several inches and it was still going. They postponed our event and then later cancelled it. While we were waiting the two Muggles had so much fun in the snow. They build tunnels and slides everywhere we went.
