Seeing the Port City of Marseille

The next stop on our tour-de-French Riviera was Marseille. I have always wanted to go see Marseille after reading the Count of Monte Cristo. It was such a beautiful drive. The closer we got to the sea, the more Mediterranean the houses, the weather, and the colors became. As we came over the mountain and could see the sea, it was so blue and clear.

We got out and spent several hours walking around the old port city. There were parts that were beautiful, but other parts that we did not like so much...it is more modern, but it is still a port city.

We went into one of the cathedrals that stand above the city.

It was so cool for me to see Chateau D'if out in the distance. I was tempted to ask Lady Hiva if we could do a tour out there...but with all the travel and us not wanting to be in Marseille much longer, we decided to not go.
