We spent some time just exploring Moab, including washing our dirty, bug strewn rental vehicle that has explored with us! We stopped at a random rock place. These two Muggles were in Heaven. They looked at EVERY rock.
We then went to Canyonlands National Park. I knew I could not talk these people into doing a long hike, but we found a short one to another arch--Mesa Arch--that looks over the entire valley of canyons.
When we arrived at the Mesa Arch, there were four people trying to take photos of themselves. I know how it feels to have three people in the photo and have to switch for another photo, but have no photos with all of you. I asked them if I could take a photo. Then they asked if we wanted one too. As one of the guys were taking photos his wife was telling him how to take better photos in German.
So we talked to them in German for awhile. We were so glad that we could have a fluent conversation with them. They were so shocked that we spoke German and we were in the middle of the desert with nobody else around!
