After we saw the first one, we kept seeing them. At one point it was really close to Lucky Dragon as he walked along the shore. We had to laugh one morning we were watching some scared tourists learn to snorkle and little did they know there were three sharks lazily circling them! HAHA
But! We took a boat ride out to another reef and we saw more of them. After that we were all looking for sharks to see and swim with--yes, we are a bunch of crazy adrenaline junkies!~
In the Maldives, we not only saw sharks, but we saw octopus, several varieties of fish, three different types of crabs, lizards, huge flying fox fruit bats, birds, sting rays and manta rays, eels, dolphins, and many more! It was like our own ocean safari!
I was so proud of our little people that are such great swimmers. They jumped in and snorkeled away with now worries...Even when we were on the precipice of the great deep! I loved that I could hear Koala Bear humming "I Am A Child Of God" as she swam around with her snorkel in.
More sharks.
Lady Hiva found this conch shell while snorkeling...then we realized it had a creature in it, so it went back into the sea.
Koala Bear wanted me to post this photo on "Facebook and tell people I am a strong woman."
The Hermitage
As we were coming back, there was a pod of dolphins that chased us. They were so playful. We could reach over the bow of the boat and touch them. Again, photos do not do it justice!
Lucky Dragon was always on the search for hermit crabs. At only point he had a whole hermitage that had over 30 hermit crabs in it!
More sharks in the deep.
We loved the flying fox fruit bats. They were so big and beautiful!
Our last morning on the island we went parasailing! It was great to be up there with the Muggles. This time I went with Koala Bear and Lady Hiva went with Lucky Dragon. It was so peaceful in the air. As Koala Bear and I sailed we talked about all the beautiful things we could see. The night before we had a family talk with our scripture study about all the creations of God and how we need to take care of them. As we could have a bird's eye view, we could see all the beauty around us!.
Look at that LITTLE tiny boat pulling us!
Reef to the left, great deep to the right! These photos do not really do it justice. The coral and reef were so beautiful and the fish were so vibrantly colored.
The Sheraton has a farm for coral. It was so cool to see the way they are restoring the reef. I was amazed at out one small coral plant had thousands of fish using it for food and protection. What a lesson in a difference one person can make!
Lucky dragon and I laughed when we saw this photo! We figured someone got fired for this!
We were sad to go. The Muggles are already asking when we are coming back. I loved our little weekend adventure...even if I came back calico! HAHA
