Medieval Markets and Castles-- Ronneburg Germany

We had some friends suggest a Medieval castle just a short drive out of Frankfurt. They had gone last weekend and the whole family enjoyed it, so we decided to take Madre and Kell, who are visiting, and go! It was fun!

Ronneburg castle sits high up on a knoll. It overlooks the valleys surrounding. Because it is so high there is a near 360 degree view when you are in the tower. They have done really well rebuilding and honoring the castle. Several times a year they have festivals. This is the autumn festival.

People came dressed up on their period clothing. Some of them are REALLY into it too! They had furs and animals and weapons. Many of them come and camp in their Medieval tents and then enjoy the weekend as characters that walk around. It was fun to see all the people that get into the experience.

We explored both inside and outside the castle. Both had plenty to offer. They let you walk through the castle. It was a maze of stairs, interconnected rooms and dark corners to explore.

Lucky Dragon wanted a shiny rock. This guy had him do a dance and a chant to have his rock be for good fortune. Lucky Dragon was not so sure he wanted to do it...but he did, as silly as it was, and he got his rock! HAHA

There were all kinds of weapons and items that people had made to purchase.

These two were VERY interested in the torcher devices. haha

It was a good day to spend exploring. We are glad that we had the suggestions...I guess next time we need to get our Cos-play game going! HAHA
