A Moose Walked Through Camp

This last weekend we decided to use the Spring type weather to explore more of the nature around us. Lady Hiva planned a camping weekend for her siblings. We rented some cabins at the Heber Valley Campground that is operated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is normally for youth camps of congregations during the summers. However, they rent them out for families on the weekend.

We rented four cabins. Now, I must tell you that this campground is not really camping it is more "glamping" or glamorous camping. There is running water, electricity, clean and warm cabins, hot showers and real toilets. They also have refrigerators and gas grills. All we had to bring was sleeping bags and food. It was awesome! For some strange reason we had four cabins and they decided to all sleep in the same cabin WHO DECIDED THAT WAS A GOOD IDEA!?! In other words we did not sleep AT ALL. (Could have something to do with the sugar rush of chocolate, hot cocoa, S'mores, and peach cobbler.)

We canoed on the frigid lake and splashed each other until we were soaked. We had to stand by the fire to let it steam our clothes dry. I went back to enjoy the lake again with all the nieces and nephews. While we were there, Lady Hiva and Lucky Dragon stayed by the fire to cook the tinfoil dinners. As they were cooking a moose walked through the camp! Lucky Dragon loved it. He was so excited when we pulled up. He was shouting "MOOSE!!! MOOSE!!" We all trekked up and watch the moose meander away. As we were coming back we also saw several deer just walking through the trees nearby. Welcome to the outdoors!

The next day they went fishing at Vivian Park in Provo Canyon. A few of the kids caught fish. Lucky Dragon loved it. Koala Bear fishes like me. It is interesting for a few minutes then it looks more fun to throw in the rocks, go swimming or running around. HAHA.

Then we came back home and I took the kids to the Pony Express Days Demolition Derby. It was so much fun. It rained, but both kids toughed it out with me. We just hid under a blanket. For a small town derby it was well done. Within the first 30 minutes we had one car blow up in in flames and another that was rolled completely over. It was great! We had fun. Lastly, we stopped and watched the fireworks. It was a good rainy weekend. We were so glad we could spend time outside.

I know I am looking forward to the sunny weather coming ahead! The flowers love the rain and cold through...

These two are really getting into the yoga thing. THis is "Yoga in the Parking Lot" haha...She wanted to do some poses so I said, "Do downward dog." (that is the only yoga pose I know the name of) She jumped right down, butt in the air and said, "I down dog!"
