A Wicked Thanksgiving

Koala Bear and I have been waiting for the new Wicked movie to be released for months! We were so excited to go see it as a family! (It was amazing, by the way). As we were coming out of the movie theater I told them that I want to take the family to see Wicked on Broadway.  Lady Hiva and I had the chance to watch it years ago when Kristin Chenowith and Idina Menzel were still doing the show.

This statement was not a surprise for my people. Like last year, this year we decided to just to draw names for gifts--we each give to one person we buy a gift for and one person we make a gift for. Then go on a trip. We each wrote down a list of items that we wanted or liked to give each other ideas. One of the items on my list was tickets to see Wicked as a family.

Lady Hiva surprised me with an early Christmas gift to go see Wicked in New York the weekend after Thanksgiving! I was so happy! What an amazing gift!

We made our way up to New York while we did some Black Friday Shopping. I think we shopping in nearly every state since between Virginia and NYC! We were able to get some good deals!

I was glad that we had another chance to be in New York. Our first in NYC with the little Muggles was right after COVID and the city refuse workers were not working so there were huge mountains of rubbish EVERYWHERE. Not a great first impression for the kids. The first stop in the big city this time was the flagship Macy's store. We had watched the Macy's Day Parade together and we had fun exploring the stages still set up. We also explored all 8 floors of the store. It reminded us all of stores in Hong Kong and Singapore. You can eat there, play there, shop there, and enjoy time together.

The Macy's day decor was perfection. We all enjoyed the window displays.

We ate some NYC style pizza from a small corner vendor.
It was SO cold in NYC. We have been enjoying such warm weather in DC so the cold NYC wind was shocking for all of us. Luckily, we had brought layers with us. We did have to stop and buy some more gloves though!
In the afternoon we walked up Broadway to Gershwin theater. It was so much fun to be there! We explored Times Square together. It was, of course, packed with people. But it was still wonderful to be there.

We made a stop at the Disney store. We all love the theming and details that they put into this iconic store.

After the show I had found some great tickets to go watch the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Hall. We walked down the lighted streets and saw the big tree at the Rockefeller Center. It was fun to see all of the NYC Christmas areas that we see in our favorite Holiday Movies. We saw Rockefeller Square--complete with the tree and skating rink. We walked on 34th Street (didn't find a miracle, but we looked).

We stopped by the huge Lego store on 5th Avenue! It was so much fun to see all the art made out of Legos.

Our dinner was a LONG wait, but it was so worth it. We ate at a traditional Chinese dumpling place and loved it all.

Radio City Hall was such a treat! I am glad that we went. It is a beautiful building. And the show was spectacular. They used dance, technology, lights, and fireworks! Our favorites were the drones and the real life animals for the Nativity--when the first camel walked across the stage we were so shocked!

It was a busy day, but it was so amazing. We all had so many stories to share about things we had experienced and seen.
