Masks, Crafts, Fires and Easter...The Quarantine Saga Continues

The quarantine saga continues! We went out in our masks and gloves today. I was so thankful that we have a random craft bin full of material and other things we can use in time of Coronavirus. We made our own masks, lined with felt for optimal protection and softness to the face. (How was that for an info-merical?!

Usually the essentials in Lady Hiva's bag used to be food and water. It has now evolved to gloves and masks! HAHA

We participated in the Worldwide Fast on Good Friday. We were challenged by the Prophet, President Russell M. Nelson, to Fast globally. I walked downstairs on Good Friday from a work meeting and saw Lady Hiva and the kids kneeling in prayer. We were asked to pray for an end to the spread of Coronavirus, the economy to be strengthened, the healthcare workers to be protected and life to be normalized. I was glad that Lady Hiva is such a good example for our children.

Stores continue to try and keep up. toilet paper is again showing up on shelves. Now it seems bleach, disinfectant wipes, hand sanitizer and yeast are the hard to find items . It is funny to see the shelves for those items be completely empty. I was so glad one day that I found some yeast. It was on the top shelf and nobody else could see it.

Then one day I found a store selling large yeast. I had to blink my eyes a few times to see a shelf of yeast. It was a great find. I guess most people do not use that much yeast. When we make 6 loaves at a time (to share with neighbors) that yeast does not last long. I cannot even tell you the satisfaction from finding something that has been hard to find.
New things are being hoarded now. Material and elastic straps for masks are now gone. It is also funny to see the way people wear their masks. It is becoming a new fashion statement.
Work continues to be online. I even did a training for all LDSBC Faculty as they shift to teaching classes online this next semester.
Another top shelf find was some bleach!! I was so excited about that. To find bleach...something we love in our home--long before the time of Corona. Koala Bear was so happy to show me how strong she was carrying two gallons of bleach by herself. (by the way, she has been dressing herself and this combination has been a favorite lately)

We spent last weekend watching General Conference for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was so great to see the Prophet and other Church Leaders speak. I am thankful for technology that made it possible even when we cannot be there in person.

We fill our time with homework and crafts. Painting is a standard at the house.

Lucky Dragon's watercolor rendition of the Lego T-Rex

Play dough is also a standard. Lucky Dragon loves to create things. He made this TINY TINY taco dinner. He was so proud of it. He wanted to have several photos.

He created a Lego maze too.

Lucky Dragon made his own Play Dough sushi. (Which is pretty good considering he has never actually eaten sushi! He just has a Sushi Go game that he loves to play.

This was his Manapua. He was so excited to show us that if you cut it open it has red meat inside, just like the real Manapua!

Look at the detail on that little apple! He is so amazing!

I decided to do some painting too. It has been so long since I have done any kind of painting. I feel that water color is not my favorite medium, never has been. So I broke out the oil paints, another gift from the depths of the craft bin.

We have also decided to do some social distancing a few times at the campground. It was so much fun to just sit and burn and talk.

We loved it so much, we decided to go again!

I took the two Muggles with me to give some cookies to all the youth that I am over. It was fun to see them get out of the car, knock, leave it on the step and them back up for social distancing.

 These photos need to caption.

Lucky Dragon loves to give rides on his police bike. He also loves to build fires. He found an old Bingo wheel, took off the wheel and decided he wanted to make it a roasting spit. First up to roast was an apple. I was proud of him for coming up on this all on his own.

While her brother tried out his pyro-techniques, Koala Bear worked on her meditating.

Legos have long been a favorite in our house and now is no different. I was so proud of Lucky Dragon for building an expert vehicle all on his own. No help from us!

Koala Bear wants to be like her brother and build her own Legos.

This is the car he made all by himself.

All week we studied Easter themes and the last week of the Savior's life preparing for the Fast on Good Friday and the Resurrection on Easter Sunday. It was great. Especially when last week we studied the Restoration. So much that one night we were riding in the car and Lucky Dragon pointed to the damaged LCD screen and said, "Hey! It looks like Joseph Smith looking up at an angel!" Sure enough, I can see that too!
We had fun on Easter. We hid eggs, played Legos and recuperated from fun with cousins.

We found some random dentist tools and doctor's tools in the dollar bin at the store. She loves them. She takes our temperatures, listens to our hearts, and then tells us to breath deep while she "checks our backs." Clearly this one has been to the doctor a few times! HAHA

Looking for Easter eggs she filled her basket with just one color scheme haha.
