Lady Hiva was so exciting to have time to prepare. She wanted to do a FEAR FACTOR styled game. I decided to help. We had fun going shopping and finding ways that we could make the normal styled food be gross. She decided she was going to focus on making a cemetery cake and mummy dogs for the meal.
I injected tomatoes with cream of chicken to make it puss filled boils so they 'popped' when they bit into them. V8 was blood. Sliced beets were tongues. Black eyed peas were live maggots. I peeled grapes for eyeballs. Heart of palm were carved into witch fingers. Diced tomatoes were ground heart--a little food coloring made it "moldy." A Baby Ruth candy bar was made into a log and submerged in water to become toilet water. It was so much fun. Lady Hiva told me that it was "too gross." I thought that was the point!?!
We played a flour game outside, which quickly descended into a flour fight. Soon we were all covered in a layer of flour dust--some worse than others, of course.
The evening was rounded up playing "Murder in the Dark" and the "Name Game" using Halloween names instead of our own. It was a really fun night.
We have also had some more Halloween experiences. Lucky Dragon had a party with his soccer team. Lady Hiva made chocolate covered strawberries--a favorite in our family--with a Halloween twist. They turned out so cute. Lucky Dragon and Koala Bear were given a Ginger Bread house by Madre and Kell. The two of them had so much fun building it--and even more fun to eat it after (so gross!)
She wants to be like her mum so bad. She loves makeup! |
Below are photos of the family scripture study. We are reading Come Follow Me as a family--a study curriculum set by our church for family study. This week was Ephesians in the Bible and when we got to the part where we talked about the Armor of God. Helmet of Salvation. Sword of the Spirit. Breastplate of Righteousness. Shield of Faith. Lucky Dragon went to collect this all himself. Obviously, Koala Bear was NOT having it at all!
The fear factor food game was so much fun! You put a lot of thought into it and it was truly gross. Haha!
