Celebrating Pioneers: Dust, Guns, and Prairie Sage

We made a quick trip down to Beaver to celebrate the 24th of July. I think next to Christmas this is our favorite holiday. As with everything this year, it was a bit odd because of COVID-19. There was no parade, which is sad because the Beaver Pioneer Day Parade is one of the largest in the State of Utah. Lady Hiva even commented that she was bummed she did not get her plant and cheese (iconic gifts from the nursery and cheese factory.

They did have a rodeo each night, horse races, and fireworks. In between all of those events we found things to do. We rode horses even though we were dressed like "city people". We went out and shot guns. We rode in the back of the truck. We saw all the farm animals. We went swimming. Finally, we enjoyed the fireworks.

I love this photo. The clouds look fake.

We made two different stops to the Creamery. The lines were INSANELY long for cheese and for ice-cream. It is crazy to me to see how busy and popular it is after they moved the building closer to the freeway. Beaver has always been a destination spot for travelers. Positioned halfway between Salt Lake City and Las Vegas. It is hard to think that all these people would have fit into the old Creamery building.

Shooting guns is something that was part of my everyday growing up. But for Lady Hiva and our kids it is a novelty. We took out the .22 and shot targets. Lucky Dragon really liked the experience.
