Neighbors: The People That Literally Bail You Out

Due to having a little princess  in our home, we watch a lot of Elsa in our home! That includes watching and re-watching the new Frozen II movie. Lady Hiva and I were talking the other day about what our favorite parts of that movie were. Lady Hiva said it was the part where Anna is running to save her sister and her boyfriend, Kristof, shows up and all he says is, "I'm here, how can I help?" There is so much power in those words. It is the type of relationship that someone shows up in the time of need and doesn't ask how we got into the mess or why it is so bad. They just want to help to let you know that they are here to support on the journey.

A few weeks ago I posted on how our neighbors were mowing each other's lawns and caring for each other. Today I wanted to share another experience. We were out doing errands and our neighbor called to say that our hose had been turned on and the water was flooding the yard and had filled up the window well. Oh boy!

Lady Hiva drove us back quickly and when we pulled up I saw that our neighbors were literally bailing us out. She was up to her knees in water in our window well. He and his niece were emptying those buckets away from the house as fast as they could.

In that moment I was so grateful for them. Once they had realized that the water was filling the window well they jumped into action. They had already gone into the house and moved away items from the basement that could get damaged and were bailing water out as fast as they could.

Luckily, all though outside there was plenty of water, there was only a little bit that leaked into the basement (thank you sealed basement windows).

As we concluded the day with gratefulness that we did not much damage. We told Koala Bear she cannot turn on the water without an adult outside too. She assured us all she was doing was washing her face. She just happened to not turn it off.

We were thankful we have people in our lives that are willing to step in and help when we need it. They literally were knee deep in our sludge and muck to bail us out and prevent us from more harm and damage. The served and expected nothing in return. They were there to help. There is no better way to live than when we are serving others in their time of need, like our neighbors served us.

I want to be that person like our neighbors, knee deep in sludge helping others bail themselves out of whatever situation they are in and quote Kristof and let others know "I am here, how can I help?"
