Humid But Happy!

We have made it to our one week anniversary in India! It went by fast, but there was so much packed into one week that it also felt like it was much longer. We are slowly getting into the rhythm of life here. We are so grateful for how resilient our two Muggles are. When our plans change, they roll with it; when food tastes different, they still eat it; when we are tired but still out doing things, they trudge along; when we do not have a clothes washer, they help me wash by hand in the tub; when they see things for the first time, they are willing to have a conversation about why it is different.

They are both missing our backyard in Utah and friends. So we are spending a lot of time at the pool and they are doing activity books or Legos. Below you can see that Koala Bear sewed her own stuffed animal (from a kit). She did so well and she is so proud of it!

Every time that we need something, it is an exploration experience. Below is a few photos of our experiences along the way. We really should take more photos. We get so busy with what we are trying to accomplish that we do not take as many.

Some nights these two are falling asleep as we are waiting for food!
Below is their dramatization of falling asleep eating haha!~ (Should we tell her that usually you close your eyes when you are asleep?!)

We have been able to go to Church a few weeks in a row. There are such good people there. We will enjoy getting to know all of them while we are here.

Perched on the sofa working on his art workbook.

First day of work (above) and the first day of school (below). Life is starting to seem somewhat normal.

At Church this Sunday we met a couple from Hungary. They knew Papa and Pluba from when the two of them were on their missions in Hungary! What a small world.

We took an exploration trip to the coastline. The water is really polluted and there is rubbish all over (makes you thankful for environmentalists and all they do to protect the Earth). It was SO HOT...these photos do not quite do it justice.

Either way, we loved being near the water.

We tried out a few restaurants. We are always searching for those really good places that we can enjoy. We were excited to get our gyoza, katsu, and ramen!

One night, as we were on our way home, we ended up in the middle of a political rally! It was CRAZY. Traffic is normally a bit chaotic (putting it nicely) but this amped it up an notch or two. People were playing music, drums, yelling, had flags...police were everywhere. It was quite the experience.

We went over to another part of the city and loved seeing that there were more trees (less concrete jungle).

Over the course of this week we have really learned to appreciate all that Mumbai has to offer. It is hectic and crazy, but there is so much here. We are glad we have more time to explore. Most of all, people are so kind. As we finished shopping, we were offered a ride from a couple who were also leaving the store. But people will smile or talk with us as we walk. I am thankful we are in a place that has a culture of hospitality and genuine kindness.
