Our First Adventure In India

 

Welcome to MUMBAI!!! 

We decided to head out on our first adventure into Mumbai. We landed in Mumbai at 0005h. After going through the immigration and wait for bags, we were off into the head and humidity of India. Our home is not ready for us to move into yet, so we are staying at a hotel...sounds familiar! HAHA. This is going to be called the year of the hotel! 

We got out of the hotel to do some shopping and to see a few iconic Mumbai landscapes. The first was the Taj Mahal Hotel and the Mumbai Gateway to India--built for royalty to enter the city. These photos do not give justice to the heat and humidity! We were ALL sweating! 

Looking at the sea from the Gateway. There are so many people--everywhere. Again, this photo does not do it justice. I would have taken photos of the busier areas, but I was focusing on not losing a wallet or kids as we walked through crowds. 

We went to the CSMVS museum (Formerly the Prince Wales Museum) on a whim--whim trips are always the best. It was a well-done museum. We were able to see historical artifacts from around India. We were also able to see the thousands of years of history in art, jewelry, money, clothes, tapestries, and religion. 

I wish that I could have taken more photos. They did not allow it. The kids were able to make their own tapestries by stamping with die and traditional stamps. Then they were able to use their muscles to stamp their own metal coins. 

They went into the Children's museum and learned about the history of India and the people that live here. At the end they were able to make their own versions of tile patterns. 

Making Money

This is my laundry line that I built in the hotel. The hotel laundry service charges more than the shirt was bought in the first place. So I wash the clothes in the tub and hang them to dry! 

It was an adventure. We saw a lot! There is crazy traffic, I was in the passenger seat trying to pump my breaks a few times as the drivers just veer in and out of traffic to each other. There are loud colors, loud noises, and a variety of people! What a new adventure that we are on!
