Off WE GO!
Our departure from DC went without any issues--thankfully.
It is a bit surreal that our time in DC is done. We were coming expecting to be in DC for a year or more and off we go after only a few months. We love it there. We love the people and love all that the city has to offer. We packed the rental car FULL of luggage, then squeezed in for short drive to the airport. (thankfully it was short! haha)
Our first stop was Paris. We stayed at a Marriott Village out by Disneyland Paris. We did not know what to expect, but it was amazing. We were assigned a two story townhome. It was perfect. The area is laid out as if it is a small European village, including manicured gardens. At night the frogs in the ponds were so loud!~ We loved it. It is a bit surreal that our time in DC is done. We took an UBER into Paris proper and explored. Again, the good thing about being familiar with Paris, we know where we want to go and what we want to see. First up was the Eiffel Tower. It was really busy so we did not get to go up to the top, but we were able to see so much. Lucky Dragon thought it was amazing to stand right under the Eiffel Tower.
From the Eiffel Tower we hopped on the Big Bus-hop-on-hop-off tour. It is a great way to see Paris if you only have a day. We were able to see some things we have never seen before due to being higher than the walls that surround gates/etc. We also loved the history that they tell on the drive. When you have a city as old as Paris, nearly every corner had somethings historical that happened there.
Napolean's Tomb
Of course we had to start off our day at the local boulangerie...the first of many stops along our way! WE walked across and bought a whole crate of strawberries (that I then toted all over the city the rest of the day) that became our snack with our fresh bread for two days.
Another stop at a bakery. Lady Hiva's eyes for bread are always wanting more than her stomach can handle haha!~
We made the trek to Laduree. We got our macrons and mille feuille. This time we also got a new cake that was some sort of chocolate and hazelnut! It was delicious--even I liked it and I usually do not like chocolate or cake.
We stopped by the perfumery and got some smells for our home! Excited to try them out when we land in India.
Touring around Arc du Triumphe
It was a delicious rest stop for sure. We could have stayed longer, but we loved the time that we had. For as big of a city as Paris is, they do really well keeping it clean.
Love your photos of Paris and all the delicious bread and pastries! Next stop India 🇮🇳
