Christmas Day in Germany

Christmas Day was finally here! It has been really fun getting ready for it. As always, we drew names. We all have one person to buy for and one person to make a gift for. It is so much fun during the season to see us all trying to sneakily make and/or buy gifts for each other.

Koala Bear wanted yarn for her new crocheting habit. So it looked like she got SO many gifts, but in reality it was because all the yarn would not fit into just one box! haha. She was so happy!

We had homemade conchas for breakfast while we unwrapped gifts.

For dinner, we made turkey and ham. Lady Hiva wanted to have candied yams too.

I made the two Muggles quilts. They are nowhere near perfect...and it took many hours of sewing after the two of them had gone to bed. It gave me something to do when I was home bound during the latest rounds of cancer treatments.

I wanted Koala Bear's to look like a pixelated Hawaiian Sunset

Lucky Dragons was the ocean. From the deep sea to the surf and eventually to the shore.

We went over and spent a few hours visiting our elderly German neighbors. It pushes the limits of our German language abilities, but we have fun visiting them. Their Christmas ornaments are so traditional and special. We all loved looking at them.

One of the best parts of the day was games. We played game after game together. We all had to come up with a game to play together. We laughed and laughed.

It was fun to get out all of our Creche from around the world. It has been years in the making, but we have a good collection now.

We went and watched a moving together as a family. 6 months in Germany and this was the first time in the theater!
Our elves, Frau Jill and Branch came back to join us. They got into all kinds of trouble. I took photos of most of the days, but missed a few of them.

St. Nicolas day brought plenty of candy in our shoes (luckily, I had just washed the shoes the day before) haha
