One of the places that we have had on our list to visit is the historical town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. It is a city we have been to years ago and we loved it. Lucky Dragon went for a week on a school trip earlier in the year. We wanted to go back and see it. We happened to be in the area (ish...kind of an hour detour) and decided to go and see the Christmas Market. It was Magical!
The walled city, the cobblestone streets, the bustling shoppers, the food smells around the area, the colors, the lights...it was all amazing.

Rothenburg happens to be the home of the famous Christmas company Kathe Wohlfahrt. Every market around the country has a beautiful KW stand. Usually the largest and most ornate part of the market. But in their headquarters it is several buildings. One of those building is the "History of Christmas In Germany Museum." We went in and expected a small shop, but this place was HUGE! It was rooms and rooms filled with Christmas wonder!

The "Snowballs" are a local treat made of cookie and flavoring. They are any flavor you can find!
We wandered around the roads for a few hours. It was fun to see the market, then it was really fun to just walk down the now abandoned streets. It felt like we had the entire world to ourselves.
We walked the city wall ramparts. We had fun listening to Lucky Dragon tell us about where he walked and which stairs he sat on and where he bought food!
We are already trying to figure out when we can come back! Next time we will plan on staying for a few days.
